Our History!
Back in the year 1902 a group of four ladies decided that Woodward, Oklahoma, needed First Christian Church. Money was not easy to gather but after a series of dinners and food sales the ladies raised a grand total of $10 and organized the First Christian Church in Woodward. It occupied a frame business building on Main Street. Three years later they had a church building which was located at Thirteenth and Main.
This was a growing church and by 1917 plans were under way to build at the present location.
By 1920 we were occupying our present building.
Still growing, by 1924 plans were under way to build a Sunday school building.
It was not until 1951 that we made plans to build a new Sanctuary. It was dedicated September 7, 1952.
A major building project began in August, 2000. It was completed in fall, 2002, in time for the September 29, 2002, Centennial Celebration.
